Toronto principal who was charged with assaulting 9-year-old student in 2018 has been acquitted

A Toronto principal charged in 2018 with assaulting a nine-year-old student after trying to calm him down during lunch recess at his east-end elementary school has been acquitted. Parker said that in light of the recent decision, Hume should be reinstated as a principal as soon as possible. At some point, the boy’s parents told Hume about a restraint that might work, a type of hug from behind. When he grabbed the boy near the neck/shoulder area, the decision said, the boy dropped to the ground and grabbed Hume’s leg. As he tried to free it from the boy, Hume lost his balance and, in looking for a place to step, his foot may or may not have made contact with the boy.
