Retirees, move-up and first-time buyers are looking to get more for their housing dollars by migrating to smaller Ontario markets. Buyers from Brampton or Toronto can sell “the worst house” for $900,000 or $1 million. But for millennial buyers, the trade-off is a detached house with a yard for about 60 per cent less than in Toronto. “We were looking for a city that was still close to Toronto because we had both sets of parents there. We wanted a city that was a bit smaller in size that would just give us a more balanced lifestyle,” she said.
