The Toronto Star won two National Newspaper Awards: for best presentation/design and best sports photo. Star photographer Rick Madonik won best sports photo for his shot of the Toronto Raptors’ Kyle Lowry, surrounded by a tangle of anxious hands all grasping for the ball. Toronto Star had seven nominations, and a team from Torstar publication Hamilton Spectator also received a nomination in the politics category. The Globe and Mail won eight of the 21 awards on Friday night.
