A large wildfire in southwest Calgary had 17 trucks responding with firefighters from two departments working for hours to keep it away from nearby buildings Friday afternoon. Calgary fire responded to the 5300 block of 146th Avenue S.W., just west of Fish Creek Park, after getting calls at around 11 a.m. about a large wildfire, the department said in a release. In all, 13 trucks from Calgary and four more from nearby Tsuut'ina Nation took on the fire which grew to 16 hectares. "On scene crews worked for over two hours to channel the fire away from threatened structures and keep it within a single field," Calgary fire said. Crews will remain on scene into the evening extinguishing hot spots and the cause of the fire is still being determined."
