KUALA LUMPUR: Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah hopes with the uncertainties affecting the nation’s workforce due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the people will take cognisance that the world is now operating under a ‘new normal’. “His Majesty urges that this crisis be a catalyst for Malaysians to work harder to ensure the progress of the country and her people. “It is in this self-sacrificing spirit that we celebrate Labour Day 2020, ” he said in a statement yesterday. Meanwhile, Chief Secretary to the Government Datuk Seri Mohd Zuki Ali in his Labour Day message described civil servants “the pulse and backbone of the country”. He said Covid-19 pandemic had created a new paradigm in terms of work culture and social norms.
