Max Brandrett has painted forgeries of LS Lowry, Caravaggio and Jack Vettriano as well as the Dutch Baroque painter Johannes VermeerFor years Max Brandrett fooled the art world with his forged Caravaggios and Lowrys. Brandrett, 73, who served time in jail and was banned by eBay, said that somebody had tried to sell a forgery of his work to an antique shop. When Brandrett’s illegitimate career came to an end he began to sell legitimate copies of works that he signed, stating that it was, for example, “After Picasso”.
