The Ghaziabad police arrested Jet Airways Vice President (Security) Col (Retired) Avneet Singh Bedi on charges of grabbing land in a prime location of Uttar Pradesh district's Sahibabad area. The arrest came amid a drive launched against land sharks by UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath's administration. The land was found to be encroached by 11 persons identified as Sunil Kumar, Subhash, Anaar Singh, Shahnawaz, Khemchandra, Jay Raj, Vimla Bedi, Manohar Bedi, Avneet Singh Bedi, Digvijay Singh and Guneet Singh. "Vimla Bedi, Manohar Bedi, Avneet Singh Bedi, Digvijay and Guneet Singh had encroached 532 sqm of land. Ghaziabad Mayor Ashu Verma said that so far 172 FIRs have been lodged against land sharks for distorting the beauty of Ghaziabad.
