The national security case involving teenage activist Tony Chung Hon-lam will next be heard at the District Court on January 28 which he's expected to enter a plea, facing up to seven years in prison if convicted. The 19-year-old attended a brief hearing at the West Kowloon Court today, where Chief Magistrate Victor So Wai-tak granted prosecutors’ request to transfer Chung’s secession case from West Kowloon Court to the higher court, where sentences are capped at seven years. Charge number one has been changed to conspiracy to publish seditious material, followed by one count of secession and two counts of money laundering. On the seditious material charge, Chung is now accused of committing the acts between April 29 and October 27 last year. Chung did not apply for bail and was remanded in custody.
