With approximately 67 per cent of eligible Canadians casting their ballots, the Liberals bested George Drew’s Tories, taking 169 seats, while the Progressive Conservatives were only victorious in 51. St. Laurent’s Liberals earned 48 per cent of the popular vote with Drew and his party receiving only 31 per cent support.
