A tip-off from the public led to the arrest of a wanted man in the Arnold Valley near Greymouth yesterday. Several police staff were called out, including a police dog and handler, to track a 26-year-old Christchurch man after he fled into the bush when police visited an Arnold Valley property, near Stillwater, yesterday afternoon. Police staff called for back up and a dog and handler eventually tracked down the wanted man, who was bitten when he tried to get away. The offender suffered "minor bite wounds" and after medical treatment in Greymouth he was kept in custody overnight. Mr Watson said the offender was wanted for multiple offences in Christchurch, besides theft and other outstanding matters.
