However, removing the barriers to access to these data will not be easy. I have worked at the coalface of NHS data analysis for 30 years, and the greatest headache faced by investigators and innovators has always been data access. This cultural resistance is the biggest limiting factor to the deployment of these assets to achieve public health benefits and economic growth. Over these years I have witnessed an in-built suspicion that somehow investigators and innovators want to access NHS
