On the eve of the New Year, my message today is that whether or not business was good in 2017, you must take stock before diving into 2018. We say our maintenance culture around infrastructure is poor, but I think our attitude to growing talent is in fact poorer. I ask – when you do your business (or strategy) plan, do you underwrite the delivery of same with a talent plan? Does your auto mode affirm that no strategy plan is complete without a complementary talent plan? Taking stock should not be a self-condemnation exercise.
