Currently, he is among the leaders of ethnic Tigray opposition operating in Tigray region known as Arena Tigray. Gebru said that he does not believe Amhara people could be a threat to Tigray region. He also unveiled that new secessionist sentiments are on the rise in Tigray region. Ethnic Tigray political elites are mobilizing for that. He was infact more explicit as he was saying that former TPLF leaders are behind mobilizing for the secessionist trend.
