Tiger report blames novice workers

A Staff ReporterThe tiger that was caught in Lalgarh forest last monthCalcutta: The state wildlife department has prepared a report on the killing of a tiger that had strayed into the Lalgarh forest last month. The failure to capture the big cat in more than 40 days left the wildlife department embarrassed . The report on the tiger killing has been prepared by Ravi Kant Sinha, principal chief conservator of forests, wildlife, and chief wildlife warden. But sources in the department said the report blames the inexperience of forest workers in Jhargram and West Midnapore and tribal hunting festivals for the death of the tiger. Forest workers in Jhargram and West Midnapore are used to tackling rogue elephants, not tigers.
