Tiger Woods has long been an influence of change on the PGA Tour. Now, he's hoping his influence could change the way the world's top professional golf circuit views the legs of its players. Players on the European Tour are allowed to wear shorts during practice rounds and pre-tournament Pro-Am competitions and the PGA of America also permitted shorts during practice rounds for the last year's PGA Championship. Currently, only PGA Tour caddies are permitted to wear shorts, a rule the Tour changed in 1999 only after a caddie collapsed during the Western Open on a day when the heat index had reached 106 degrees. However, the Tour has strict regulations for caddie shorts, requiring them to be "solid-color, knee-length, tailored" shorts.
