Meet 483006, a former London Underground train who is 82 years old. In his youth he worked the Bakerloo, Northern, Central or Piccadilly lines (no one quite remembers which). He probably transported mourners to Churchill’s funeral, and revellers to the first Notting Hill carnivals. He emerged from the darkness of the Underground to spend his last years in Solent sunshine. Dating from 1938, 483006 and the rest of class 483 are the oldest working trains in the UK.
