Three caught red-handed attempting to steal underground power cables


KOTA KINABALU: Three local men were caught red-handed attempting to steal underground power cables belonging to the Sabah Electricity Sdn Bhd (SESB) in two separate incidents near Karamunsing, here. In both cases, the men aged between 28 and 41 were busy trying to remove the SESB’s cables at the Karamunsing flyover area when caught. The agency’s general manager (corporate communication) Chendramata Sinteh said SESB auxiliary police made the arrest at 9pm in the first incident and 3.30am yesterday. “The suspects were trying to steal the main cables, which supply power to consumers in the Kota Kinabalu city area especially in Sadong Jaya. She added that several tools used by suspects were also confiscated.
