Thousands of Eritreans Trapped in EgyptAugust 1, 2017 - As a result of Egyptian authorities crack down on human traffickers, several thousands of Eritrean refugees, who were planning to reach Europe, are trapped in the Northern African nation, reports News Deeply. Despite human groups are expressing their concerns about vulnerable community, like Eritreans, following its crack down on migration, Egypt has been receiving praises from European states. Starting in 2014, a growing number of Eritreans, aware of these dangers, began looking to Egypt as a safer alternative. Egypt has become an increasingly popular transit country for Eritrean refugees wanting to cross the Mediterranean Sea to Europe. At around 8,000 people, Eritreans are now the fourth largest refugee group in Egypt, behind Syrians, Sudanese and Ethiopians.
