Thirty years after the Montreal Massacre, we’re still in limbo


It’s been three decades since Dec. 6, 1989, when 14 women were murdered at l’École Polytechnique because they were women. They viewed the massacre as the dysfunction of a man who lost control, armed himself, and took out his frustrations on strangers. There appears to be more public recognition of gender-based violence, in no small part due to the work of activists and researchers and people saying #metoo.
