The Grey Cup champion Winnipeg Blue Bombers have released defensive end Jonathan Kongbo to allow him to try to tackle a job in the NFL. Bombers GM Kyle Walters says that’s the deal he made with Kongbo when he chose him in the first round of the CFL draft and signed him to a three-year contract last spring. Kongbo was rehabbing a torn ACL at the time, suffered in his last season at the University of Tennessee. “He chose to sign with our organization rather than wait a season to continue training,” Walters said in a statement, Thursday. “This agreement came with the understanding that if he received any NFL interest, we would work with him to help him pursue those interests.
