Theft from aircraft carrier of a serious nature, says NIA

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has re-registered the First Information Report (FIR) on the probe into the theft on board the under-construction Indigenous Aircraft Carrier (IAC) at the Cochin Shipyard Ltd (CSL) here by invoking major sections that include waging or attempting to wage war or abetting waging of war against the nation. The agency has also included cyber terrorism charges under Section 66F of the Information Technology Act, according to officials close to the development. The decision to slap major sections of the IPC came after the NIA found that the case was of serious nature. The agency will now probe whether there was any conspiracy behind the theft. The Special Investigation Team of the Kerala police had initially found that the theft was an insider job.
