A few recent news stories and anniversaries have caused the public to reflect on life in Christchurch eight long years after the worst of the earthquakes. Hall of fameThe refurbished Christchurch Town Hall opened to the public last weekend and guess what? All the stuff you heard about the Town Hall as the city's living room turned out to not be hokey and sentimental after all. Joy Ryan-Bloore, a former teacher, had been around for the opening of the Town Hall in 1972 and she was back for another look. As such we can generously claim that Christchurch is giving Wellington a hand, and that is surely a good thing.
