Global cloud computing revenue estimates were pegged to have breached the $100 billion mark in 2012 and is projected to generate over $270 billion by 2020. This is exactly the scenario that local cloud computing pioneers and advocates would like to see more of for enterprises in the Philippines. While the concept of the cloud has yet to firmly take root in the local business environment, the future, undoubtedly, is online, and digitization is where everything, and everyone, is headed. “‘Why fix it, if it ain’t broke.’ That’s the most common response we get from businesses when we talk to them about shifting to cloud computing,” says Huergas. For all of these reasons, enterprises should consider cloud computing not just as a means to take their businesses to the next level, but also to ensure their survival in the future. To repeat and oft-quoted saying at the Cloud Summit, when it comes to doing business in the digital age, it’s pivot or perish.
