In a recent decision, RITANZ excluded Damien Grant from the profession. I provided an affidavit in support of Damien Grant to be licenced. The Clean Slate Act was crafted with the best intentions, and seven years is quite a low number by international standards. The most problematic one is this: once sentenced to imprisonment, the Clean Slate Act is no longer available to you. Though Grant’s criminal record stands, it should be at least mildly embarrassing for the organisation to base their judgment on a fossilised record and nothing else.
