Another tamaraw bull was hunted down to death and poached for its meat to illegally sell for profit and gain. Two of the suspected poachers managed to escape back into the forest, escaping the hand of environmental justice. The threat to our wild lands and wildlife has never been more real today, all being paid for by the unfortunate price of extinction of life. Real money and economic gain that could have been used in strengthening environmental enforcement in our national parks or providing sustainable livelihoods for our indigenous people who have been the primary protectors of these wild lands. Where today, the cost of protecting our wildlife isn’t just any more about money or economic gain, but about real actual lives of Filipinos being paid as the ultimate price.
