The original oil on canvas by the Italian artist Canaletto, bought in London in 1920 for £100, has been valued at £150,000A forgotten painting by the Italian master Canaletto has been found hanging in the drawing room of an English home. The 18in by 12in oil on canvas work depicts the Dogana da Mar building from the San Marco basin in Venice. It was bought in London in 1920 for about £100 by the mother of its late owner, who died recently. Although the owner was aware it was a Canaletto, she decided against selling it during her lifetime.
