As British troops continue with the evacuation of UK citizens and Afghan nationals from Taliban-controlled Kabul, humanitarian charities have appealed for donations to help those left behind. Readers of The Times and The Sunday Times are invited to support the Halo Trust, which is clearing landmines and explosive devices from Afghanistan. It has had a constant presence there since 1988, including the years when the Taliban last ruled, and has been told by them it can continue its work.
