The Hangzhou G20 will be nothing like that, either. On the G20’s sidelines there will be much silly talk about a new “golden era” in Canada-China relations. Xi Jinping knows all about purges. He’s not going to let the Hangzhou G20 get away with anything. And unless he dies first, Xi Jinping is expected to serve as China’s president until 2023.
