The only way out of this mess is to take the opportunity to fundamentally restructure the flawed financial model on which football has been based since the establishment of the Premier League. National League clubs have been asked to vote on ending the campaign without knowing how promotion and relegation is to be decided. As is the case for the majority of Championship clubs, they are reliant on funding from their owners. When Covid-19 has been dealt with and life has returned to normal, it is anticipated the financial operations of EFL clubs will be looked at again. Closed-doors impactHowever well run they are, a football club that cannot play football will eventually hit financial problems.
