OPINION: For New Zealand to thrive as a nation we need an education and training system that provides our workforce with the skills that our businesses and industries are looking for. Across the country we currently face skill shortages in some of our most critical industries. The government has announced bold plans to reform our system of trades and vocational training. In the Southern Institute of Technology, you have one of the best-performing vocational education training establishments in the country. The goal of these proposals is to address longstanding issues with vocational education training throughout the country.
