They buy hook, line and sinker the claim that there is no ground to revoke the grant of amnesty to Trillanes. I see friends who now take on hashtags declaring their newfound love for Trillanes as a new democracy icon. They go on a rant concerning their suspicions about the disappearance of Trillanes’ amnesty application, even as they have not even articulated their rage about the disappearance of Andy Bautista. Thus, it doesn’t matter if Trillanes’ performance as a politician is anathema to the very nature of their political advocacy. This is what enables Trillanes to be imagined as an icon for democracy.
