In The Nether, users plug their consciousness into “realms” through various avatars, you can even work and attend university in The Nether. All together, they create a slick production that looks impressive as it gives the audience a warning that we’re entering emotionally disturbing territory. In addition to the written trigger warnings for the audience, this is a kind of trigger warning in practice that’s seamless and effective. Haley’s play does an enhanced version of this, with some of the most horrible material imaginable. At least, on the way home, you’ll feel more inclined to talk to a friend, go for a walk, and admire the trees.
