The UN says the conflict is the world’s worst man-made humanitarian crisis, with millions on the brink of starvation. The Iran-backed Houthis, who control the capital Sana’a and the populous north, have recommenced attacks despite US appeals for restraint. He has also accused them of “going in and murdering children” – with US-supplied weapons – in their bombing campaigns in Yemen. Yemen’s war began in September 2014, when the Houthis seized Sana’a and began a march south to try to seize the entire country. Saudi Arabia, with the UAE and others, entered the war alongside Yemen’s internationally recognised government in 2015.
