The Franchise begins on Sky Comedy on Monday, October 21There’s no shortage of quality either behind or in front of the camera on The Franchise (Sky Comedy, episodes one to three, Monday, October 21), HBO’s satire of superhero movie-making. The series’ creator and lead writer is Jon Brown, a triple-Emmy winner who’s penned episodes of Peep Show, Succession, Veep and many more. In short, The Franchise is a series with talent to burn. And that’s exactly what it does: burns it on material that’s never as sharp or funny as it should be. It’s obvious from the outset that The Franchise’s fictional movie company Maximum Studios is DC’s bitter rival Marvel in all but name.
