The Chainsmokers have now become just the second artist in history to see one of their songs hit the one billion mark on Spotify. The group’s global smash “Closer” has just recently moved into ten digit territory, making it the second most-played song of all time on the Swedish streaming platform. “Closer” follows not too far behind Drake’s “One Dance,” which became the first song to hit one billion streams back in December. The song was released in July of 2016, so it will soon celebrate its one-year anniversary, and what a busy year it has been. Ed Sheeran’s “Shape Of You,” Major Lazer’s “Lean On” and Justin Bieber’s “Sorry” are all inching closer and closer every day, and the billion club will have a third member any day now.
