There was a point early in my career when I was afforded the opportunity to work closely with the senior leadership team of a budding organization. Patience, transparency, pliability, authentic motivation and trust are a few key ingredients in the recipe for successful conflict resolution. Listening with empathy is one of the most valuable assets in conflict resolution. Conflict arises when we don’t allow ourselves to come to some resolution or we leave conflict unresolved for an extended period of time. One solution to overcoming non-congruent leadership is to foster atmospheres in which each leader walks away feeling they have been understood.
