Srinathmore-inAn eerie silence has descended on Kadiramangalam village that was witness to a fiery clash between residents protesting against the presence of ONGC personnel and the police on Friday. They demanded the release of the arrested persons and withdrawal of police from the village. Meanwhile, Thanjavur Collector A. Annadurai visited the village on Saturday, inspected the oil spill-affected field and directed that the damaged soil be removed and replaced with fresh soil. Later, revenue officials dumped fresh soil brought from a nearby tank on the oil spill-affected areas.
