BANGKOK -- The Thai authorities have moved to seize assets worth up to US$21 million from a dead Canadian man suspected of masterminding the world's largest "dark web" marketplace, police told dpa on Monday. "We are in the process of seizing the rest of his assets," Chalermkiat said, adding that most of Cazes's assets are in digital currencies. According to police, Cazes had lived in Thailand with his girlfriend for about seven years with false identification that claimed he was a computer programmer. AlphaBay was the world's largest online dark web marketplace, with up to 400,000 users. The dark web is web content that exists only on darknets, computer networks accessible only with particular software, configurations or authorization.
