Thai economy beats growth estimatesLion dancers celebrate the arrival of the Chinese Lunar New Year at a department store mall in Bangkok. The economy expanded 1.9% from the previous quarter, compared with the forecast of 0.6% growth. Full-year GDP growth stood at 2.4%. The NESDC expects economic growth in a range of 1.5% to 2.5% this year. Its annual growth rate of about 2% a year is less than half the pace of Malaysia and Singapore and barely a quarter of the growth in Vietnam.
