The state of Texas has the most to lose should NAFTA somehow get thrown under the bus. First, both in the top 10 among U.S. states for total exports originating in their states that are sent to the United States' NAFTA partners. Here's an example before you peruse the chart below: Texas is accounting for 24.22% of all NAFTA trade this year, nearly three times that of second-ranked California. Michigan ranks third for total NAFTA exports at 6.53% this year, according to U.S. Census Bureau data through July, the latest available. Here's a chart that shows each state, with its total exports to NAFTA this year, the percentage of its exports that go to either Canada or Mexico and its percentage of total NAFTA exports.
