Tennis Expo Latest In Push To Grow Sport in The Villages

Over the past few months, tennis officials in The Villages have made a concerted effort to grow the sport among residents of the community, and this weekend, they’re bringing in a tennis hall of famer to help out. On Saturday, Glenview Champions Tennis Club will host the inauguralThe Villages Tennis Expo, an event created to provide instruction for tennis enthusiasts and introduce players to the newest equipment and technology in the sport. “I think this is an exciting event for residents as well as people outsideThe Villages who love tennis,” said Mark Davis, The Villages’ director of tennis and facilities manager at Glenview. Bollettieri, who was inducted into the International Tennis Hall of Fame in 2014, will work hands-on with two groups of Villagers who purchased tickets in advance, but the lessons promise to be instructive to all tennis players in attendance. There will be interactive stations set up on the Glenview courts, including a ball machine station for players to experiment with different demo rackets and a triples tennis station where players can sign up to try triples tennis.
