OMAHA — Tatum Tempelmeyer’s RBI single in the bottom of the eighth scored McKenna Loomis from third base, allowing Beatrice to capture its first state softball championship since 2003. The Lady O defeated Hastings 1-0 at Carrie Claussen Field in Omaha. The next Lady O hitter struck out, which set up Tempelmeyer’s heroics. Beatrice Coach Gary Lytle said he was more excited after that defensive play than he was the game winning hit.
