The Philippine SEA Games Organising Committee (PHISGOC) and its eSports partner, gaming hardware company Razer, have announced the game titles that will be contested at the eSports medal event in the 2019 SEA Games. Overall, six gold medals will be up for grabs at the eSports event in the 2019 Sea Games. The 2019 SEA Games happening on Nov 30 to Dec 11 next year marks the first time that eSports will be a medal event in a major sports competition. The Malaysian Electronic Sports Association (ESM) secretary-general Rinie Ramli in a recent Bernama report said they are ready to start selecting athletes for the SEA Games in 2019. “Next year’s SEA Games will be the first time that eSports events will be officially included in the medal tally.
