After several months of dysfunction, two turbines of Tekeze Hydropower Dam in Ethiopia have recommenced producing 150 megawatts of electricity. Moges told NewBusinessEthiopia.com today that the CEO of EEP, Dr. Abreham Belay, is currently visiting Tekeze Hydroelectric Dam and the nearby Ashegoda Windfam in the northern part of Ethiopia. Only 25 percent or one of the four turbines of Tekeze Hydroelectric Dam was generating power. Tekeze Hydroelectric Dam has a total capacity of generation 300 megawatts of electric power. With the recommissioning of the two turbines Tekeze will now be able to generate a total of 225 megawatts of electricity, according to Mr. Moges.
