Staffordshire Police investigated the circumstances surrounding the tragedy, but found nothing suspicious, an inquest into Jack's death heard. Detective Sergeant Hilary Boxer, who oversaw the investigation, told the inquest that Jack then met up with a group of young people at a house. This was caused by the fall into the lake which, in turn, was contributed to by alcohol intoxication. The inquest heard he was due to start a course with the Prince’s Trust in January.
