Having proposed to tear down the east end of the Gardiner Expressway in favour of a grand street-level promenade and having suggested pie-in-the-sky affordable housing ideas, she now wants to close and repurpose three city-owned golf courses. Her rationale: they operate at a net loss, are closed six months a year, and could be put to better use as “cultural hubs” and for cross-country skiing, etc. News for Jennifer: these beautiful city courses provide a valuable recreational option for those not able to access expensive private courses and, like most golf courses across the city, they are already open for cross-country skiing in the winter.
