The teacher, identified as Prabhat Chandra, was taken into custody on Tuesday, Tajhat police station OC Rokonuzzaman said. According to police and the institute’s Principal Mohammad Ali, Prabhat reportedly called the prophet “a bastard” during a lecture in the class of sixth batch on Monday, drawing immediate protests from the students. “Apparently Prabhat Chandra insisted that he was right even after the students protested and demanded he withdraw the comment,” Ali said. After the news spread, students and locals demonstrated in front of the institute on Monday demanding Prabhat’s immediate arrest and punishment.
