This photo by Ollie Bowie, 13, takes pride of place in the new photo book celebrating Tararua's 30th anniversary. A talented Tararua teen’s work is taking centre stage as the cover of a new photo book that celebrates the district through the lens of its people. The Tararua District Council held a photography competition for the district’s 30th anniversary in 2019, asking residents to submit images that represent what Tararua means to them. The best photos were included in the coffee-table book, Tararua District through the lens of our people, that went on sale this week and is the first of a 10-year series of photography competitions and books planned by the council. Council records and information manager Joy Kopa, who edited the book, said it was intended to come out in early 2020, much closer to the district’s 30th anniversary.
