Taranaki council revises work-stopping construction guidelines in response to industry outrage


Stratford designer Wayne Bloor is thrilled he can carry on with his held-up projects, since the district council decided to change its guidelines. A Taranaki council has amended construction guidelines it introduced last month after push back from dozens in the building industry. In July, the Stratford District Council introduced rules that required a specific soil test to be carried out, and a report attached, for all building consents. But this caused an outcry within the district's construction community, who said the test “doesn’t work for Taranaki" soil and would always fail it.
