The accused assaulted a Project implementation officer (PIO) and intimidated him for not distributing relief materials as per his wishThe Local Government Ministry has suspended a vice-chairman of Sadar upazila in Tangail district for his alleged involvement in creating an obstruction in relief distribution and assaulting a project implementation officer (PIO). The Local Government Division issued a gazette notification in this regard on Thursday. With this, a total of 72 public representatives, including 23 UP chairman, 45 UP members, one Zila Parishad member, two municipality councillors and one upazila vice-chairman have been suspended since the beginning of coronavirus outbreak. According to the notification, Nazmul Huda assaulted a Project implementation officer (PIO) for not distributing relief materials as per his wish. He also issued a death threat to the PIO.
